felt-tip pen related musings.

Hmmm...I've been really lazy about this blog. Anyway, looking through my sketchbook I noticed that suddenly my drawings are full of colour. A few weeks ago I bought some felt tips, and I'm having to actually stop myself from filling in any availible space in my drawings with some eye bleeding colours!

It's funny because for a really long time I've avoided using colour in my work...mostly for practical reasons- comics are obviously easier to copy in black and white, and also because I find obsessively shading things with black fineliner or biro incredibly satisfying. I guess I got kind of out of the habit of colouring stuff in, and started seeing everything through an automatic black and white drawing filter. I'm now eyeing up pots of vividly coloured ink, planning ways I could make art using them, although sadly I'll probably have to wait until Christmas until I can afford all the pots I would like.

Talking of which, I was in an art shop at the weekend, drooling over expensive markers, and other things I never knew I needed in my artistic life, when a young girl came in with her parents and bought up one marker in each colour. There were about 70 colours, and they were about £3 each. I probably went a bit green with envy. I need to find some kind of sponsor who wants to waste his or her cash on buying my art materials. Any offers anyone?
